Day Seven

By Nick

If I'm completely honest, this walking miles and miles, day after day thing is beginning to wear a little thin. It's not that the weather wasn't great - it's been another glorious day, weather wise - or that the scenery wasn't lovely today - it's been as easy on the eye as ever. It's just that, well, you can have too much of a good thing. My feet have certainly had too much, and that's not a good thing, especially as we've still got another 40 plus miles to go.

Anyway, today we had a noisy walk under the flight path into Heathrow. Daft place to build a royal residence, if you ask me. (She was in again today, incidentally.)

More reminders of the flooding today, including several half drowned boats and other boats where they didn't ought to be.

Speaking of odd things coming out of the water, we got chatting to a wild swimmer who regularly swims the length of Runnymead: about a mile from teashop to teashop.

Speaking of other odd things...

Tomorrow, we have the pleasure of the company of two of my nieces: Izzy, who will be with us all day; and Rachel, who, with her two-year-old, hopes to meet us somewhere near Hampton Court. It'll be good to have company to chat too and distract us from our aches and pains. I hope they've been storing up lots to talk about.
